Soul Snack 9/14 ... The Skilled Spectator

Sometimes she felt as if life had placed her as a skilled spectator during events on a velodrome track. The cycling authorities had placed her upon the track to observe, advise and assist as required.

The races are on! The cyclists are howling by in all their competitive fury. Her shoes are secured to the track with a self-crucifying tenacity.

The racing cyclists completely disregard her, oblivious to her mortal and therefore fragile presence. Carnage could be inevitable. In fact - it is!

The track doctor is too stretched. Bruises and bandages multiply. The authorities apparently unaware to her plight. The crashes continue as relentlessly as the races keep starting.

The skilled spectator observes their clueless disregard for her presence. She witnesses their collisions. She sees her's coming, completely unwilling to flee.

She calls out to the authorities - the bruising now agonising and continual. Fear the first emotion of her work. Yet she resolutely refuses to flee until released.

The cycling authorities know she is immensley capable and that her work is still incomplete.

They see the bruising and sensing her fear. The skilled spectator is moved to the outer and higher lanes. Lanes far less trafficked. Again she is resolute in her new place as she conducts her work. The bruising and fear is now significantly reduced, as she continues to conduct her faithful work for the cycling authorities.

... God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1 Cor 10:13
