Soul Snack 9/11 .. Rescued from Eden
Tantalising mans' collective mind since oral history was first recounted is the story of Eden. An idyllic paradise of perfect harmony, with abundant supply of food, four mighty rivers coursing through it (Gen 2:10-14) and of course the ultimate life experience, walking intimately with God.
The pundits and 'the wise' dismiss Eden as myth or simply Hebrew poetry. The New Testament doesn't -eg. see Rms 5:12-17. For those who believe in a real Eden the desire to recapture it is strong.
The problem with that first Eden is that I learnt to take my eyes off God and place them on myself. I could see I was naked. I could now see my problems and my shame. (Gen 3:7) I need rescuing from Eden as much as I may want to re-capture it.
I will always need God as much as the first day I met Him. Until I meet God permanently my needs remain in varying degrees and capacities.
When I meet God all my needs will finally diaappear because only then can my eyes be completely off ME.
As in Eden so too in heaven. I will walk with Him, sit with Him and talk with Him. The Edenic rescue will be then complete because I will never see myself, my failings, my pain or even my nakedness again. (Nor will I see this in others.)
Thankfully there are no mirrors in heaven.
