Soul Snack 8/77 ... The Faith Flame
Mountain air low and thick commands attention. The freshness enlivening, the cold numbing. Constant drenching mist-like rain, so definitely captures this season, the season for a hearth.
Cool damp days plus roaring open hearths are an equation for physical effort. No roaring fire is self-perpetuating, no glowing embers self sustaining.
The previously stacked dry firewood and consistent effort is always rewarded, leaping flames and a warm euphoria now available. Yet neglect the fire, smother air to the embers, or isolate the embers is to quickly see a fire die.
Faith and flames are so similar. My faith constantly needs the fresh air of the Holy Spirit to energise my faith flame.
My faith flame requires regular, planned and encouraging nourishment which actually requires effort. My faith flame cannot grow in isolation, anymore than an ember without flames very close around it can glow.
(It is a lie that a can Christian can neglect church, all need the warmth of Christians around them.)
