Soul Snack 8/67 ... Back to the Future
Correctly and accurately recalling the past spells health for the future.
The history I have lived with all its attendant blessings and burdens will always colour my outlook on the future. To my eyes this colouring can be difficult to accurately perceive.
Fear from the past can cripple the present and destroy the future.
If there has been trauma, terror or just consistent trouble it can be difficult to recall good times.
God has always acted well for me. (Ps116:7) My recollections need to always deliberately search for God's goodness in my past. He has always been there!
This searching is the best spiritual and relational health to build a future on.
Covetousness, pursuit of desires or 'being true to myself' can not deliver the future I actually want.
My future is wonderful when I understand that God has already been good to me.
There is more favour to be received when I believe in His permanent goodness for me.
I can receive this good future when I can walk forward to Him in thankfulness for His presence in my past.
I was pushed back and about to fall, but the LORD helped me.The LORD is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. Ps 118:3-4
