Soul Snack 8/37 ... Breakfast with Jesus - B
An Abundant Breakfast.
Without energy, the water lapped against these old sodden timbers, the dawn breeze now gentle. The slap of the oars slowly propelled this overladen craft to the shore.
The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards. When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread. John 21:8-9
Jesus had entered the lives of these previously professional fishermen. He had called them to fish for men.
Only a brief interval had passed since Jesus' death. He left them alone. They were simply back catching fish. (So quickly, we return to our old ways, if we don't stay with Jesus.)
These men were not recreational fishermen, they had returned to their livelihood.
Yet Jesus again would rescue them. Again He would call to them. Again they would respond. Jesus will never leave His followers unattended.
Knowing their needs, the Lord calls to His followers. They had responded obediently. Weariness was not an impediment to this call. These professionals did not debate - they just obeyed.
Their obedience led to their abundance. Jesus had the fire ready, the fish available. He was already prepared and present to meet their needs. Their arrival is invited and welcomed by Jesus. Jesus knew all their needs. He gave fire, fish and friendship. He even had the fish cooking before they caught it.
Early each morning Jesus invites me to an abundant breakfast with him. The fire is alight, the fish ready, the table always set. He knows what I need for breakfast this day. He has it prepared.
Early each day, stop first, have breakfast with Jesus. He has the perfect meal for me that day. I will eat from His abundance.
