Soul Snack 8/27 ... Life's Mists

Softly, the misty rain soaked into those without shelter. The vantage point of this spectacular lookout obscured by another of God's perfect handiwork, a mist. Not many would see His creative indulgences this day.

Erect umbrellas and crowded awnings were of no assistance 'to take God in'! His abilities hidden that day. The goodness of creation briefly unavailable to please the eye.

Hurried lives, difficult deadlines, delights and despairs all conspire against my experience of God. The mists too envelop my life. I too am then unable to see what God has done and is doing from me. I too miss the joy of the daily encounter, unable to perceive God's actions that day. The gentle and soft mists of life as well as violent storms can prevent me from appreciating God's handiwork around me and for me.

It is always good, indeed absolutely necessary, to make the sovereign Lord my refuge. Then I can see through life's mists. I will truly know that:

"... as for me, it is good to be near God." Psalms 73:26
