Soul Snack 8/200 ... Engaging the Eternal -B
Endlessly engaged in their own unfolding dramas are those who conduct each day as a willing receptacle for the divine, or simply an empty vessel for the carnal.
Each day is passed through with its own struggles and sins or its own joys and jests. Shame and sadness may await, or even hope and happiness. These days are always common to mankind.
Good eternal days are predicated upon hearing from Him now. An empty vessel with a receptive heart is God's formula for blessing.
Hearing is evidence of relationship. Hearing is the humble desire to receive from another, knowing that the speaker has something of value to offer me.
It is likely that if I believe well of the speaker, I will also believe well of His words.
God's eternal goodness is always well received through His eternally good words.
His words bring me His promsies, they introduce me to a relational banquet of the richest fare and a satisfaction that is beyond the reach of wealth. In His word alone is there life. It is to my detriment that I ignore it, and to my delight to attend to it.
"Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.
