Soul Snack 8/199 ... Engaging the Eternal - A
Ever tried a 3rd party relationship? Could you get to know someone (you really want to know) without actually meeting with them?
Could a photo album of them, an autobiography or even their best friend give you a relationship with them?
The Eternal wishes to engage the eternal in me. This is no personal 3rd party relationship, filtered through the devotional thoughts of another, a priest's opinion about my sinfulness or even through the best christian DVD available.
To hear God, to listen to Him and receive from Him is enlivening to my spirit and enriching to my soul. It can even invite health to my body. The eternal in me will never be satisfied until it is still and engaged with The Eternal.
Through hearing God and knowing Him personally He breathes His well being into my poor being. God's great intention is to energise me.
Hearing, listening and receiving from the Throne of Grace is the essence of eternity now for me.
God's words are neither hollow nor shallow! They cannot be snatched away or lost.
His words are the tent of my refuge, a pure spring for me to drink from and the elixir for my health.
From God's word I receive great profit, with little effort. They are the carrier of my light, the guide to my day and the source of my re-creation.
