Soul Snack 8/185 ... Attention Asphyxia

Eyes flee restlessly elsewhere. First darting to the right, then to the left, seemingly without restraint. Two stood in awkward 'half-conversation' neither sure they wished to continue.

It can be difficult to gain another's attention.

The shifting, fidgeting body language, the partially responded questions, and the inappropriate  replies all indicators of another's inattentiveness. This is a poorly engaged relationship.

Sadly these things I can also do, when someone desires my attention. This occurs especially when I am attempting to give God my attention. Thoughts wander, eyes are distracted or my hopes for the day simply divert me.

Despite all my frail inattentiveness, He still wants to see me,  sit with me and still me.

God delights in my seeking solitude with Him, He actually desires my attention. In my solitude and stillness a reciprocity will occur. He is far more likely to receive from me what He has already given to me - totally undivided attention!

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Mark 1:35
