Soul Snack 8/150 ... Fragments of a Whole
Snaking delightfully through a heavily wooded glen was a glistening water course. Too large to be a creek, too small to be a river.
Surely this engaging stream was a tributary to a mighty river much further downstream? Maybe a Mississippi, a Ganges or an Amazon? It knew not.
Daily this stream faithfully watered its banks, countless trees and cattle. It provided safe haven for wildlife and fish alike.
It never knew where it would end. It never understood its contribution to the greater whole, nor did it appreciate 'the big picture' it unwittingly nurtured.
Yet each day, each night without relief or complaint it faithfully completed its tasks. It saw little result and received even less commendation.
As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Is 55:10-11
I cannot know with certainty where my service will lead, but I can be absolutely confident it will succeed!
