Soul Snack 8/105 ... God's Tracks - A
The searing Egyptian sun, browned and broken skin with soaking temples, the physical evidence of agony.
Oppression and suppression their inevitable ongoing lot. Slavery to malevolence, for another's indulgence will know no relief. Ruthlessly forcing labour, the Egyptians delivered only bitterness, fear and faith to the Israelites.
In misery they begged heaven for mercy.
In pain they sought heaven's presence.
In fear they found faith.
In slavery they would find freedom.
In graceful majesty God responds. He too wants His people free. Free to worship Him alone. His own unhindered that His own may approach Him.
A loving Almighty always acts. This is His default position. God can live without His people, He just does not want to.
"When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, "If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt." Exodus 13:17
God's freedom is for my benefit. He will lead His own to well being, not to war.
He will free His own for service and not sin.
God's freedom will never put me in harm's way. His freedom will never distract me from Him. God's freedom will divert me to the path of safety.
His diversions are good for me, but distractions are not of Him.
