Soul Scaffold ~ True Refuge
A man may live in a mansion while his soul is flattened in a monsoon.
Refuge and shelter are synonyms for the peace-seeker. The seeking of refuge is as necessary for the soul as shelter is to the body.
Mankind alike will face the time when the help of their fellowman has become worthless, for the distress remains; when their spirit cannot be set to peace.
Yet many centuries before Jesus was born this Psalmist found true refuge:
When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord...The Lord is with me; He is my helper... It is better to take refuge in the Lord... than to trust in humans... it is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes... The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. (excerpts from Psalm 118)
God wants you to have something far better than riches and gold, and that is helpless dependence upon Him. ~ James Hudson Taylor
There is refuge, a path of peace; it is walked hand in hand with the righteous Prince of Peace.
