Getting Beyond Words in Prayer...
God does not need our words to hear us, or understand us.
We can be silent in prayer.
Human expectations assume prayer involves words, and it usually does. But, the time arises for prayer when silence is the unusual path to travel.
We can offer Him our listening ear.
We can offer Him the time and space in which to pass on a morsel or abundance of His comfort into our deepest longings.
Fasting from food is Biblical, so too fasting from prayerful speech
Why not enjoy the sound of silence?
The Last Word:
Christians beware lest our words drown out His still and small voice.
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And He who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:26-27)
