Worlds Apart
... live your life as strangers here in reverent fear. (1 Peter 1:17b)
The Apostle Peter addresses the elect (Christians) scattered throughout the 'reachable' world. (These days it is Turkey, when Peter wrote it was to those in five regions of the Roman empire.) He writes to these vulnerables that are spread thinly across deserts, villages and towns. Peter places a gentle, understanding index finger under these bruised chins and lifts until their eyes meet. Peter reminds this maligned diaspora of the 'out of this world' faith they hold now.
God's protective canopy is accessed by faith, there is no other way to apprehend His safety. Peter compares our faith's value with gold, and gold loses. Many a person has traded their faith for gold, but who has traded his gold for faith?
The path less traveled is by faith. Faith takes every thought captive, even 'reason'.
As a stranger on earth, as one who keeps their eyes set on the prize/s, live in obedience for the eternal inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. It is already kept in heaven, with your name neatly printed in the Book of Life.
The Last Word:
Keep the faith for it holds you worlds apart.
