SAND BETWEEN THE TOES ~ A

When I am afraid I will trust You. ~ Psalm 63:1

The summer of life grows cold. Then life's autumn is littered by bright yet fallen leaves, soon to be blown away by winter winds.

Headlong have I run into cliff walls that stopped me dead.

I have wandered to cliff precipices that flooded me in fear.

I have climbed mountain ranges I did not even know I was on.

I have tramped upon shifting desert sands for seasons far too long. Through this I have been stirred, stripped, broken and humbled, but never released. Loss is the currency of the wilderness wanderer.

In times too frequent to number I have fallen to my knees and exhausted myself before Heaven. I want to believe that I am far less what I was, and I now pray far more what I should be. These are the wilderness times of sand between the toes.

Yet the days of the desert are only a preparation for what the Lord has next.

It is in passing through the wilderness God drops pleasing food each morning, tears rocks open for water, defeats my enemies and even ensures my sandals do not wear out.

The Last Word:

Fear takes a man into the wilderness, for it is here he escapes to. Obedience will take him out.
