Receiving tomorrow's truth today.

Soul Snack 49/10 ... Tomorrow today

The sun was now much higher in the sky. It's rays penetrated the bracing chill air of dawn. They had framed (even witnesssed) a world changing encounter by the man who too raises them each morning.(see also Hebs 1:3)

A musing and hurting fisherman stood before dying embers. The fire now as consumed as the breakfast.

Peter was the man who could never resist Christ's call. A hurting Peter, a restored Peter and a loving Peter now had a divine hint to his future. Fish and bread could remove the pain of the stomach but not the ache of his sin from the last time he stood around a fire (Jn 18:18). His spirit was tortured as it felt Jesus 'turning the knife' three times.

When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?"
"Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you."
      Jesus said, "Feed my lambs."

Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me?"
He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you."
Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep."

The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?"
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you."

    Jesus said, "Feed my sheep.

The repetition of Jesus so chastening and searching, the repetition of Peter so definite and positive.

This breakfast was drawing Peter into a future only known by Jesus.

'I tell you the truth, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go." Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, "Follow me"!' (John 21:18-19)

Breakfast with Jesus brings my tomorrows into my today. When I hear His call, eat with Him and listen to Him He will change all my tomorrows.

(Legend has it that because Peter did not want to be equated with Jesus, he was crucified upside down about AD 64 in Rome)
