Reaching for Love
Love builds resilience. When love is weak or absent so too is vigor.
Love is water to the soul and nurture is peace to the spirit.
Where love is lost, so too the strength that fortifies endurance.
A heart without love grows distressingly faint.
Those who are first carried by love can then carry others.
Every human's soul is their bank vault. It is filled by credits, deposits of love. Deposits permit withdrawals when resilience is required or another seeks strength.
No withdrawals can be made upon a bare vault. When the vault is empty, debits are impossible.
When the debits exceed the credits, the soul is bankrupted. Each human then 'wilts', as a beautiful but parched blossom in a high noonday sun.
Love is oxygen to the soul as nurture is water to the heart.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
To those who reach out to another reaching for love; that kindly sit with the lost, the least, the last or the lonely - the love that touches souls is knowing:
- people do not remember what you said to them, but how you made them feel and
- hurting people need compassion far more than they need instruction.
The race of life is the search for love - some are in a fun-run while others are in a marathon.
In this life God too reaches out in love (He authored this habit), for:
"He still finds treasures amidst ashes." ~ Marie Wikle
