'Purity' is a dirty word!
All generations hurry into impurity. Entertainment through sin becomes their perpetual intent. Without discretion or prudence all men bolt to master the ways of the life-losing fool. Wickedness and righteousness they cannot divide.
It is wickedness that murders the innocence.
The Lord's good and safe counsel stands forlorn at any street corner, unnoticed. The storm that pelts His wisdom only further obscures and deafens His appeals for innocence.
To those whose Christian faith is real (that's you?) He instructs:
- be wise to what is good and be innocent to what is evil. (Romans 15:19)
- God has not called us for impurity but holiness. (1 Thessalonians 4:7)
- abstain from every form of evil. (1 Thessalonians 5:22)
To live in purity is to dwell in moral safety. Purity honors the Christian as much as it glorifies their Lord.
The pursuit of impurity is the strangling of virtue, such is the danger of temptation!
May the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all ... so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints ... for you are all children of the light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of darkness. (1 Thessalonians 3:12-13, 5:6)
It is a divine blessing, a favor beyond the instruction of men to be turned away from wickedness.
The price of purity is high; but impurity is dirt cheap. ~ anon
