Unplugging Psalm 23 again
Soul Snack 200/13 ... Unplugging Psalm 23 Again
From the Lord alone are the words of life, but from the world we hear the disguised (shaded) words of death.
There are two deaths, the body and the soul. The body is annihilated but the soul endures.
Walking through the valley of the shadow of death is closeness to what can also kill the soul. God knows this, so He makes it His business to be present for your protection.
The seductions of Babylon, the pains of existence, or the doubts of the mind (and much more) take a believer into the valleys where life is greyed from the shade of death.
In the valley of the shadow of death God is most attentive to you. He will not permit you to wander alone. His presence with you is proved by His blessing of a safe bounty ... a meal for untouchable you witnessed by your enemies.
... you prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies (Ps 23::5a)
It is with the boldest of confidence the troubled, the tormented and the torn may pass safely through dark valleys. They not only receive the Lord's benefits now, but forever.
As God trudges at your side up and out of the threatening valley shadows, He reaches out to you with His rod and His staff to assist your ascent to His light.
...I will fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me (Ps 23:4b)
The darkness of the valley is seasonal but the divine help is permanent until the mountain top is scaled.
