Pillow Talk
The pillow beckons while the blankets bleat as dawn's soft rays peep through the curtains... roll over.
Consider the Biblical witness, especially the persistent example of our Lord:
Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary, where He prayed. (Mark 1:35)
Push the pillow aside and unfurl the blankets. Roll the bed-covers back to your knees and fall to the floor in dependent humility. Refuse darkness, cold or lethargy to be a persuader for fleeting warmth.
Give your very first waking breaths to Jesus for He is the only one who knows what your day holds.
Enshrine these actions as your inalienable daily habit. Choose them as your heart-driven ritual. Resist any objection to such devotion that comes to mind. Dally with no tantalising offer to pull the blankets higher, to not first bend your knees at your bedside.
Steel your will, refresh your soul and invite the Holy Spirit's presence at the start of each day; that your day may not be lonely, empty, unproductive or filled with unassailable temptation.
Two hints to assist that slow slide away from the bed sheets:
- start your day with the Lord before the day takes you from the Lord &
- start your day with Jesus to give the day a chance.
Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning... (Isaiah 33:2)
Today's Soul Snippet:
Jesus is far more interested in your attention to Him than your activity for Him.
