Kissing Peace
Where is love if it finds no agreement with faithfulness?
Where is righteousness if peace does not rally?
Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other. (Psalm 85:10)
As indeed lust will marry adultery, love's first companion is faithfulness.
As indeed immorality shadows distress, the shade of righteousness is peace.
Restraint locks lips with harmony, but rage destroys loving wisdom.
Hold no co-operation with the ways of un-redeemed men, nor caress their counsel. This is the path to the wicked restlessness of Cain.
Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and you will find rest for your souls. (Jeremiah 6:16)
Those who look to their righteous fathers, who pay attention and listen closely to their words - will not go down to street corners nor forsake their fathers' wisdom. Calamity will not be their daily order, nor their paths stony.
They simply choose for what God delights in and repeatedly echo:
I will walk in the ways of righteousness. (Proverbs 8:20)
