Peace Hunters

All have hunted for peace. Person after person have found peace is completely elusive in the long run. Even those who fished for men, who knew Him first, saw Him, touched Him and gazed into His eyes too so easily experienced peace morph to terror.

Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. (Mark 4:38-39)

Peace is not the absence of trouble. Peace is all about seeking Jesus in the midst of trouble. Jesus' presence did not guarantee that they would be spared. But, the fact of Jesus' presence kept them safe in the storm.

Jesus might yet calm the storm, or He might just let us endure its rage and calm us instead.

The Last Word:

Ultimately peace is not about a smooth journey on a calm sea. It is realising that whatever the journey, Jesus is in the boat with His disciples.
