Darkness, Demons & Dumbness
We live as though the kingdom of darkness does not exist. (Neil Anderson)
2000 years ago there lived a very troubled man. He dwelt in a land of complete darkness. He knew perfectly well the kingdom of darkness did exist, he too knew of demons and dumbness.
“They brought Him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see." (Matthew 12:22)
How long had this sad soul staggered through a speechless darkness?
How long had this poor man been robbed, cheated in life?
But, he did have some fine friends who took him to Jesus.
The 'real' man was hidden by his troubles from the world, the world could not truly know him. The world was too hidden from him.
Bringing another to Jesus is a very good thing. Many will benefit.
Now an irretrievable life was retrieved. Darkness flees a life when Jesus enters it.
This Jesus still works and still speaks into darkness. He does not change.
Jesus was birthed in darkness, died in darkness, and then rose again in darkness.
The darkness of the soul, the darkness of the heart, even the darkness of the eyes or the darkness of the day is no impediment to the work of He who is the Light of the World.
This healing Jesus stretches out to this day, deftly and gently into all that is dark in men; illness, dis-ease, relationships, ignorance and so much more He can retrieve.
Take the needy to Jesus, for He is the Great Light Isaiah spoke of 600 years before Jesus' birth, because in Him there is no darkness.
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Fear not the darkness though it may long surround you, for it need not linger in you.
