Of Broken Windows
Soul Snack 53/14 ... With cigarette in hand and sporting a left eye as black as my Honda, a solitary lady hovered nearby. I was not weary at all, but she was clearly wearied.
Only moments prior I had parked on the loose gravel car park and removed my helmet. Unknown to me, Faith (name changed) had been watching silently while she drew another carbon-filled breath or two. As I released my luggage surely Faith thought I was a likely lad for a chat?
Within five minutes she had sketched her tragic life to me. If her life was a house it was built in a war-zone. Its walls had been peppered black and blue with shrapnel, and not a window had been left un-shattered.
BUT not even tormented Faith was too:
- set upon
- burdened
- sinful
- rejected
- bruised
- broken
- depressed
- lame
- lost or too
- lonely to be both be heard and received by Jesus with open arms.
All this her pummelled heart needed (and still needs) to feel.
To those who are soaked in storms or dwell in war-zones, be available to Jesus for He wants to be, and is available to you. Upon further discussion it appeared that Faith knew this, but very sadly was still not quite available.
No hatred of man Jesus will ever multiply to you. No love of heaven will He ever withhold.
When the paralysing shards fly yet again, don't freeze with the temptation to ignore Jesus' strength - resist it, because if you keep doing what you have been doing, you will keep getting what you have been getting.
Jesus' Holy Spirit is the glazier who removes the broken windows to repair the broken souls. He stays closer than a friend and nearer than a brother.
Lo I am with you always even unto the end of the age. (Matthew 28:20)
