Navigating Spiritual Disability ~ A
Are we not spiritual cripples?
Why is spiritual perception so dull?
Why does so much of the western world believe in few or no spiritual realties at all?
Why does the human body marshall the human spirit into obedience and not vice-versa?
After all, since creation man has been body, mind and spirit - and always will be until death, damnation or heaven.
"No man ever believes that the Bible means what it says; he is always convinced that it says what he means." – George Bernard Shaw
So why this ignorance, why such an all pervasive spiritual disability? Two reasons come to mind:
1) In Eden flesh and spirit dwelt together, but not anymore. In Eden God and man communed, they walked and chatted together. Adam gazed upon God and God looked into Adam's eyes. Adam's eyes were truly alert, open to spiritual realities for he who is physical could see He who is spiritual. (Remember GOD IS SPIRIT) In fact Adam's eyes were not focussed on things of the flesh until he sinned, then to shamefully observe his nakedness.
Sin steers eyes to the flesh.
In an innocent Eden Adam would never have questioned the veracity of spiritual truths let alone disbelieve their existence. Flesh and spirit lived in clarity together. It was not until Adam's explusion from Eden that he lost his sight of the Spiritual. He no longer could watch or fellowship with the God who is both Spirit and Truth.
From Adam until Jesus man's eyes were blinded, but now man and God can live closely again, should man choose to.
The god of this age (satan) has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (2 Corinthians 4:4)
Absence from the Divine is the spiritual disabler of mankind.
When Eden was lost so was the natural ability to walk with God, but all is now not lost:
for to be close to Jesus, is to be no longer closed to spiritual truths. He is the light of the world.
Stay in the light.
