My Jerusalem!

'As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people both now and forevermore.' Ps 125:2
'Envelopedby the eternal' ... what an arrogant thought! If I am surrounded, Imust therefore be at the centre of His being! Surely He does not holdme so high? To be surrounded by grace, goodwill, and generosity is not my usual life experience. This could only be a divinely generated position.
For 3 millenia Jerusalemhas sat very securely aloft, amongst the hills of Judah. Hindered bysignificant ravines, only the north presents reasonable approach. Aplace God deliberately selected for His people's well being. A locationof such safety, it was obvious to call it 'the foundation of peace.'
Peacetruly is the absence of enemies. God wants our enemies removed as faras the east is from the west. Daily He will act towards this permanentpurpose for His own.
Amidst my pursuit of pleasure He has placedprotection. Inserted into my desires His grace. Deposited in my heartseeking its rights, His righteousness. Sitting in my selfish spirit,His cross. He has me surrounded both without and within. I am smitten.I am His. I am safe.
My betterment constantly drives His heart, my safety His priority. My pleasure, His joy and my peace, His penchant.
He counts my enemies. He feels my fears. He is my Jerusalem!
