MAX SMART strikes again!
Soul Snack 9/92 ... Control!
Rotating at unpredictable intervals through the heavens of TV programming remains the ubiquitous 'Get Smart'.
Four decades later it still surfaces to wonderfully amuse a new generation and faithfully re-entertain a previous one.
Of course Mel Brooks in this unchallengeable ability at comedy orchestrated an organisation called 'Control' that had none, and an evil competitor called 'Kaos' that really wasn't.
'Control' is so much to be desired in life. It gives comfort, security and a well-being to those who manage this goal for life.
How elusive are the things I seek most? How difficult can it be to maintain control and equilibrium in a world canopied in suffering and with a soul blindly immersed in indulgence?
Well there's good news!
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Mt 10:29-31
Matthew speaks here of a God who is involved and intimately interested in me.
God is even more interested in me than I am in me.
Matthew's confidence is in an omniscient God of uninterrupted diligence. My value to Him is so superior that He will not leave me 'out of His control'. He is even interested in the most insignificant minutae of my life. Every time I comb my hair He must adjust His records. (My son thinks that by not combing his hair, he is saving God work!)
God's diligence for me is to be my fear remover. I am fully observed!
Where is my earthly control? It is at His heavenly console.
