Journeys through Difficulty#
So Joseph went up from the town of Nazareth ... to Bethlehem. He went there to register with Mary ... and was expecting a child ... the time came for Mary to give birth ... she placed Him in a manger as there was no room at the inn. (Luke 2:4-7)
Do you notice how often our journeys to follow God happen at most inopportune times?
Mary and Joseph discovered an overcrowded Bethlehem, confronted by the complete paucity of accommodation.
Imagine Mary's and Joseph's bewilderment as they made sense of the strange events before and around Jesus' birth.
Surely this made them 'stop' and ponder as the waited for clarity from God?
Their journey had been custom designed to achieve God's purposes, as are ours. No story of life is without its difficulties and challenges, each varying in intensity from time to time.
How seldom do we really know ahead of time where God's 'map-making' is taking us!
How surprised we can become when we discern a faithful God's molding and shaping of us, usually only in hindsight!
Yet, each difficulty is a potential new birth, something fresh to be borne in us and through us.
