Spiritual be-headings
Soul Snack 162/11 ... Spiritual be-headings?
Is the whisper-quiet cry of self-confidence the largest threat to a Christian's faith?
Is a Christian who boasts of their theological acumen, their Biblical ability or their durable devotions most vulnerable?
Is the Christian who claims their laurels and boasts of their faithfulness most at risk of a spiritual decapitation.
Should a Christian still trade today on their spiritual masterpieces of yesterday?
Surely a cry of self-confidence deathly shades any soul of humility?
Can the call of self-confidence elevate a redeemed heart above Heaven's descent of grace?
Is it in the boast of spiritual self-confidence a comparison is conducted that finds the other wanting?
Lash thyself immovable to the mast of humility for when the wind fills the sails and the craft glides forward yet again you will clearly perceive that all forward motion is not of your doing anyway.
Are not all successes simply a crowning by God of His talents shared with you?
“This is the one I esteem:
he who is humble and contrite in spirit,
and trembles at my word." (Is 66:2b)
