Harvesting History
Soul Snack 131/12 ... Harvesting History
Listen to me you who pursue righteousness and who seek the lord; Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn. (Is 51:1)
Our personal history needs to be spoken and understood. We each benefit as we consider our origins to learn God's activity and directions for us. As a result, we then become divinely appointed farmers to plant in His fields we were raised in and are still yet to be harvested. Our origins have both formed and made us. Each has been crafted by Jesus.
To recall our life beginning is to gain our true identity (not wrestle with another) and to receive the correct future; our origins are then not clouded or even worse - lost. For each to grasp their start is to seek and see the field the Lord has planted them within. This is liberating for it's God implant and not just our decisions that determine our fields of life.
The food carried within each backpack for the life journey; that strengthens the planting and equips for the harvest is obedience to the Father's call so that completion is achieved.
"My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of of Him who sent me and to finish His work." (Jn 4:34)
Some two centuries ago Bishop J.C.Ryle reflected - a man is immortal until his work on earth is done.
The nourishment to sustain life is obedience to the end. The field of life is firmly Babylonian real estate and its infinite seductions but this field is also bounded by Zion (Jerusalem) and its eternal salvation.
...and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek Him, reach out for Him and find Him. (Acts 17:26b-27)
Our history is for His harvest (salvation -others in heaven) and our harvest (salvation - us in heaven). God plants you where He wants you.

When your heart is too heavy for you - it is never too heavy for Jesus.
