Faith's War Zone
Soul Snack 150/11 ... Faith's War Zone
There is a war-zone of faith - we live in it without escape. There is no no-mans land and no prisoners are taken. It claims faith, kills spiritual desires and enhances carnal ones. This war is waged almost every waking minute each day. It is the both the battle for a righteous life now and a heavenly life forever. Its weapons of mass destruction are condemnations, disapprovals, fear and the lazy lusts of self-ignorant.
This war-zone of faith is dedicated to multiplying life's physical momentum (busy-ness) and dividing life's spiritual momentum (stopping in solitude). Stealth is its ubiquitous camouflage. It conspires to steal the faith of the faithful.
Faith is more precious than much fine gold. It is the goal of this war.
These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine (1 Peter 1:7a)
Stolen faith costs so much more than merely lost breath. The price tag is marked forever.
Recognise this eternally dire battle, assemble the full armour of God and then be clothed in it. Keep standing, resist every assault and pray at all times with the Holy Spirit. Seed the day with prayer and then water the day in prayer..
This battle cannot be fled if victory is the goal - it must be waged. Stand up this day to fight so that tomorrow is not lost today. Spiritual laziness is the tent of the loser.
The battle is first engaged by listening to the General, the Commander in Chief - attention to Jesus each morning receives the instructions for the fight that day.
He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught. (Is 50:4b)
