Swingin' Faith?
Soul Snack 184/11 ... Swingin' faith?
Somehow each one of us is fascinated by the bizarre.
The Isle of Lewis is part of The Outer Hebrides and caught my fascination perchance during a recent TV documentary. Ringed by inviting and dramatic scenery this small island hosts many population-swelling tourists during its short summer, so the docco advised.
So why do I mention the Isle of Lewis after speaking of the bizarre? It is certainly not bizarre to gaze upon.
Can you believe this ... until about 2005 the swings in the playgrounds were locked to prevent them being used on Sundays? Hmm ... since when did the Pharisees emigrate so far north?
To the Christian forgiven by Jesus and filled with His Holy Spirit Jesus says:
The entire law is summed up in a single command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Gal 5:14)
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. (Gal 5:18)
Where is the love in such draconian legislation?
When did Jesus replace love with law?
