Soaked in Sorrow?
Soul Snack 178/12 ... Soaked in Sorrow?
Indelible, imprinted and ingrained in all are the varying seasons of sorrow.
Sorrow assaults the spirit and weakens the body.
Sorrow can fuel emotions beyond endurance.
Sorrow is dead weight to the soul.
Sorrow is the cloud that darkens hope.
Sorrow withers the future and blackens the present.
Sorrow is yeast to despair.
Curiously sorrow can both enrich and impoverish.
Even the soothing balm of encouragement can be shallow to a soul soaked in sadness.
2000 years ago an emasculated and humiliated man called Jesus carried for me what at many times I am unable to carry myself.
Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows (Isaiah 53:4a)
All my sorrows (plus so much more) Jesus took for me to the Cross before I knew Him.
Jesus carried my sorrows while He was in no fit state to even carry His own.
He has not given up on carrying my sorrows. His 2000 year old invitation remains!
Jesus still lifts sorrow so I don't have to.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matt 11:28-30)
