Jesus Refuses Stones
God does not keep a record of wrongs. Sadly, that’s a job we give ourselves. Our light remains dim – not because God throws a blanket over us – but because of a tightly gathered heavy cloak of guilt that we sew for ourselves. (Dr Stuart Quarmby)
As we each carve a path through life's thick undergrowth or bumble through its fog, yet again & again guilt assails. We trip and we slip, we look behind blinded or grimace at the mess. The evil one stones us, informing us that it is not a good path; we are useless at clearing jungles or worse still we are headed in the wrong direction. He reminds us of our sins.
Satan's eternal desire is to discourage and then trip us up, but:
he can cast no stones for he was the first sinner.
The next time satan reminds you of your past remind him of his future.
It is only He who is without sin that has any right to throw stones - yet Jesus doesn't.
When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, ‘Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.’... ‘No one, sir,’ she said. ‘Then neither do I condemn you,’ Jesus declared. ‘Go now and leave your life of sin.’ (John 8:7 & 11)
