Jesus Pours Perfume Too
It is a curious thing to dwell upon the whims of a heart - to consider its drives or it fears, its lethargies or its faith.
I find the soul's meanest theatre to be a believing man who would not seek to dally with their Savior or recline at His feet.
How can Jesus be called Lord but then be ignored?
It is not best to be tardy in devotion, or deaf to Jesus' invitations.
Mary was a woman who knew no such ill-health. She loved Jesus with an abandon, incurring too the disapproval of her fellow-men.
A woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table. When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. ‘Why this waste?’ they asked. ‘This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.’ Aware of this, Jesus said to them, ‘Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. (Matthew 26:7-10)
Jesus will always defend the devoted.
Mary had poured perfume onto Jesus' head; He repaid the favor and poured perfume into her heart.
There is anointing in devotion.
