Interrupted by Terror
Soul Snack 240/14 ... A blue chopper buzzed 'too low' in now protected airspace, shoppers scattered like sheep and the police swarmed - terror had interrupted Christmas in Sydney.
That smallest continent, affectionately nick-named 'down-unda' (and the home to SoulSupply) - Australia, was baptised in an eruption of Islamic terrorism on Monday.
Horrifyingly pressed by hostages against a Lindt Chocolate Cafe window in Sydney's festive Martin Place was a black Shahada flag.
The Lindt Chocolate Cafe sign wished all comers "Merry Christmas" - in a blatant contradiction the sign pressed behind it, an Islamic flag proclaimed no Christmas Christ, only:
"There is no god but Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah."
Previously November 27th had witnessed the lighting of a giant interactive Christmas tree in Sydney's commercial hub of Martin Place. The Christmas Tree is an international symbol to the peace and goodwill that echoes 'Christ'.
Yet still the shades of darkness would assail the lights of Christmas.
Even given this interruption, we are consumed by the plans, the possessions, and the parties that either erode our Christmas or create it. That which gains our attentions and inhabits our minds are of far less significance than evil versus good.
Only the return of Christ, the presence of the Prince of Peace, the Light of the World can restore order and remove darkness.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. (Isaiah 9:6-7)
Jesus conquers with peace. This peace knows no end for Jesus' power knows no end.
Just a simple plea please for the entire world as the branches of darkness shade ever wider:
Would you interrupt this Christmas preparation - not only for the things of earth that consume us, but the things of heaven to prevail? Would you pray for the return of Jesus, for Christmas then is forever?
My Father in heaven, thank you for the Christmas time of celebrations and the festivities that light the western world. Thank you for the spirit of peace this is to bring. Lord the world is growing darker, I know you see this far more than I; there are wars and rumours of wars, earthquakes and famines - please can this be the time for the return of your Son my savior - Jesus? AMEN
