The Great Casting Off ...#
“He changes times and seasons, deposes kings and sets up kings.” (Daniel 2:21)
These are days of wars and rumors of wars. Insecurity abounds.
Almost everyone and almost everywhere people wrestle with uncertainty; uncertain about jobs, finances, travel, health, and even vaccines.
Christians are uncertain about how their churches, businesses, and schools will operate in the future.
They’re uncertain about how new laws, mandates, and ideologies will change their lives, and society.
In the middle of all of this, there is a great casting off of God’s standards. Evil is called good, and good is called evil (Isaiah 5:20).
In times of significant change, major cultural transformation and social upheaval, we have to remember that God still rules.
This is of extraordinary comfort to the Christian.
There is not one square inch of all creation over which God is not sovereign. He sits above and behind all things and gives all things their 'breath' – including governments.
“There is no authority except from God, and those authorities that exist have been instituted by God.” (Romans 13:1)
Some want to say, “No, this is a secular society and God cannot come in.” But that’s not possible.
It matters not whether the people in government have faith or not. God was, and is already there.
It is in difficult days the work of God becomes more urgent, not less. These are the days for Christians to mobilize that righteousness is clear, as in the days of Noah.#
