If Time & Chance Fall
When reason evades suffering (as it usually does) and life appears unfair - only 'time and chance' can add but a dissatisfying explanation.
When in the seasons before 'time and chance' appears a man remembers his God, when all is well he does not forget nor ignore his maker; he is readied and steadied for the days (those days certain to arrive) when he will reflect and moan - I find little pleasure in them.
Those who trust in the Lord are like Mt Zion which cannot be shaken; but endures forever. (Psalm125:1)
When the times of evil, hardship and weariness trap, and life's pleasures fade away; it is to those anchored in Divine trust, who fail to rely upon themselves, and count the help of man as mere vapor that ...
- no bad news will ever corrupt their paths
- no ill-health will ever daunt their faith
- no collapse into poverty will issue distrust in their Lord
- no enemy rising to accuse will cause them to flee their Lord, and
- no fear can consume them that they raise fists to their Lord ...
for these are the over-comers whose paths are paved level with faith. They have already grasped eternal truth and trust before the times and chances happen to fall.
I have seen something else under the sun:
The race is not to the swift
or the battle to the strong,
nor does food come to the wise
or wealth to the brilliant
or favor to the learned;
but time and chance happen to them all. (Ecclesiastes 9:11)
