How to Hammer Evil
Evil is self-replicating. Every moment of every day worldwide it successfully manages self-multiplication. Evil suggests it must be fought against with more power than it has already exerted; return fire with extra fire and to this day most men submissively agree yet again.
An eye for an eye#, a thump for a punch and hatred from resentment are the invitations to both multiply and then escalate evil with further sin.
Little wonder that Jesus counsels to walk the extra mile with the enemy or give him a second shirt, that in so doing the spread of evil within and around each of us will be hindered.
"You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well." (Matthew 5:38-40)
Significantly more spiritual courage is required to not belt the evil that has pained you, than the physical courage necessary to return fire.
"Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you." (Luke 6:28)
Choose this day to hammer evil with your peace and not to assist it with your power.

#'An eye for an eye' was the Old Testament legislation to limit vengeance, not multiply it. (See Exodus 21:24)
