The Longing for Divine intervention!
Aren't we all alike, for this fundamental temptation is pervasive - to believe our Lord is disinterested, unresponsive or silently ignores the mud and malaise of humanity? This sulfur- fueled suggestion readily rises within any person, hardship echoes it.
The comfort of God's promises and His offers of 'load-bearing' are always present. Could these verses be some of Scripture's most important repetitive promises? Surely the repetition signals their necessity and strength?
- Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken. (Psalm 55:22)
- Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)
- Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)
The Last Word:
Men may offer consolation, but Jesus can remove the point of suffering.
