God does not bank grace#
God is entirely extravagant, even wanton in how He spends His grace. God recklessly abandons it to bankrupt souls.
One such bankrupt soul was the three year old infant Annie Johnson who lost her mother at this tender age. Annie's father then placed her and her sister in an inhospitable foster care. Her father would too soon die. It was at age five she was welcomed into the Flint family. Through the Flints Annie became twice adopted and permanently loved. She was adopted by them and then by her Father in heaven. In her twenties arthritis would cripple her, and she also became twice orphaned. Grace alone was her keeper.
She wrote from her full crucible of suffering much rich fodder for the soul.
In a hymn justly recorded in history Annie Johnson Flint (1866-1932) explains:
He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labours increase;
To added affliction He addeth His mercy;
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
Chorus
His love has no limit; His grace has no measure.
His pow'r has no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again!
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father's full giving is only begun.
Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to SHARE;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.
His love has no limit; His grace has no measure.
His pow'r has no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again!
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (2 Corinthians 12:9)
Rejoice in weakness for:
grace is the divine blessing of the humbly weak. It is kept from the strong and the proud, as they neither need the Lord nor want His grace.
