Gaining the best

Soul Snack 188/10 ... Golgotha's grace

There is a boisterous love that refuses to be constrained.

Two millennia ago, this love bled over Golgotha and splashed over my soul, stamping the world with change forever.

This love is equally noisy to this day. It has raised up champions of faith, implanted timeless truths and withheld destructive judgements.

This love has canopied the poor and enfolded the despised. It has lifted the down-trodden and restored the sinner. Such love is unable to stop, and is withheld from no-one.

Above the din of today and the clamor of tomorrow, it still carries its volume. Unweakened by passing centuries and undiluted by constant use, it shouts, even begs, drawing those who would stop to hear so much higher.

It is good to gain life, but what can I truly gain forever, if I don't first gain love?

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. (1 Cor 13:1-3)
