Gaining Harmony
Soul Snack 159/14 ... A young man ripped and fit as a fiddle stood nearby.
I enquired of this well-built personal trainer; how do you know when you are fit enough?
His long silence betrayed his thought, he replied; you are never fit enough because there is always someone more fit!
On receiving his honest answer I instantly recalled J.D.Rockefeller's response to a similar journalist's question - how much money do you need, he was asked - just one dollar more responded Rockefeller.
Life is so fleeting, but it demands with energy equal to caring for a vibrant garden to be maintained well. The foolish fail to even do the weeding, while the greedy just keep planting, until overplanting is reached.
There is a middle ground between the lazy fool and the giants of greed - it is named harmony.
Harmony is the boundary to strivings.
Harmony explains when the effort is too little.
Harmony flees when work has become too much.
Better one handful with tranquillity; than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind. (Ecclesiastes 4:6)
To find harmony is to lose life's seasons of hollowness.
Harmony is to enjoy your days in the land of the living before the days of darkness arrive. It is the home of self-restraint.
"Do not wear yourself out to get rich; have the wisdom to show restraint." (Proverbs 23:4)
