Exiled by Virtue ~ Yesterday stays in yesterday

For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you. (! Peter 4:3-4)

Dear brother and sister in the Lord, yesterday's ways of living are now consigned to the 'grave' of memory, no longer your modus-operandi.

Impurity is such an unrelenting magnet for all. Purity is not valued. Christians now choose well, despite the cost.

Expect to be misunderstood, maligned, abused, because you are holy/set apart from those that have no understanding of righteousness.

Recall the tragic episode of mind-numbing disobedience, Lot's wife glanced back as fire and sulfur rained from heaven. She chanced a glance to what she had lost, to what was her life. In an instant her entire past and future was GONE. She lamented wickedness.

Yesterday can make no promises. When sin is kept the future crumbles. Today looks forward towards tomorrow.

This mighty brief sojourn across terra-firma is the season for serving today and reaping tomorrow, forever in Jesus' presence. Then, we are out of exile.
