Elvis' Bible
Upon his first Christmas in Graceland (1957) Elvis Presley received a Bible (pictured above). It was auctioned in Cheshire (UK) early September 2012. This Bible fetched $94,000 (US), exceeding all expectations.
The king's Bible was well worn and annotated. However Elvis' tragic drug-induced death did not betray a life well counselled by The Word of God. His mortal coil was fed by calamity and fuelled by indulgence. It is difficult to sense a devotion to the Lord within Elvis' adult years.
Poignantly his trek through the scriptures had spotlighted this verse in Luke's Gospel:
What is a man advantaged if he gain the whole world and lose himself or be cast away. (Lk 9:25 KJV)
The word underlined in your Bible must also be the word underlined in your heart.
