Don't Mess with the Manger!
Are the verses below the intentions of a retiring timidity?
Could these be spoken through innocent, quiet eyes gazing up from a valueless crib?
Via an infant the great and only I AM ushers war to a world with a lost soul, to rescue it from itself.
For I have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household. Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. (Matthew 10:35-39)
Christmas is about a clenched fist, gritted teeth and a rock solid determination that counts no costs, takes no prisoners and settles no treaties until God's kingdom has come.
This child who visited first in the backwaters of Judea, and then traipsed Galilee still trumpets this day - I claim you!
It is time to call for war on a passive faith and a benign birth; own that the manger became empty so the cross would become full - His greatest gift.
Live today as losing your life, for the tolls of the Christmas bells resound. They are heralds to the sweep of angels and the trumpets of judgement - His kingdom rightly comes.
Do not mess with the manger.
