Don't delay in doing good.

Soul Snack 9/11 ... A Posthumous Good?

Completely hidden within its shell, there it lay. near the center line of the road. On a busy, hot afternoon this mud encrusted tortoise remained a motionless sentinel to swift death.

As I passed by it - it was on the other side of the road. I observed to my wife that there was a petrified tortoise lucky to be alive. I kept driving, thinking though that I should be stopping.

About 100 meters further on, my concerns got the better of me, I wheeled my car around to rescue this helpless tortoise, and move it to the fields at the side of the road.

In the minute it took me to decide to turn and retrace my journey, the poor tortoise had become well beyond human recognition.

I learned a lesson then - never delay in doing good - there may only be just one chance.

Good cannot be delivered or enjoyed posthumously (no matter how sincere the intentions).

Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act. (Prov 3:27)
