Confusing Christianity!
Soul Snack 145/14 ... Confusion and Christianity are rarely bed partners, or truly bed partners.
Christianity is a living paradox; success is gained through the continual reversing of life's human guidelines.
Christianity confuses the world, they think it strange, and so argue (even war) against its disciples. Human nature despises and ridicules what it does not understand.
They think it strange that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you. (1 Peter 4:4)
Tramping the tortured pilgrimage to Jerusalem each disciple is:
- living by dying
- winning by losing and
- gaining by giving.
Christianity is an anathema to a world that is opposite, its non-compliance threatens. The world demands the acquiescence of Jesus' disciples, while Jesus looks for their resistance.
A disciple's daily steps challenge all around him, for he:
- lives by faith not sight
- denial not indulgence and
- grace not greed.
The formula is simple (but not easy at all);
Jesus who gave His all for me also calls for reciprocity. This is no unreasonable demand, for He requests no more than He has already given, but it opposes and then confounds worldly thought.
Yet, let it be known - there is no true confusion. The disciple's pathway home may well be paved by hell in a world he refuses to surrender to, but his destination remains heaven.
Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. (Revelation 2:10b)
There is a prize that far exceeds the pain. Look up, for it awaits you in a place where you are not ridiculed or despised.
