We need the night to see the stars!
My eyes grow dim through sorrow. Every day I call upon You, O Lord; I spread out my hands to You. (Psalm 88:9)
Sorrow makes us move more slowly. It forces us to examine motives, and opens in us capacities and desires to a holy life. Hardship creates a willingness within to float on a limitless sea of service for God and for others.
God never uses anyone to a great degree until He breaks us completely. Thus He exacts a martyrdom from us we will not withhold.
We need the night to see the stars. (anon)
It is the faithful passing through of storms, the unceasing shedding of tears in the valleys, and the knees bent long on silently frozen nights that the spiritually impoverished become the holy rich.
Sorrow is God's tool to plow the depths of the soul that it may yield richer harvests.#
