Just 2 Bible Reading Principles
Do we Christians live as Scully and Mulder from the X-Files, seeking THE TRUTH THAT IS OUT THERE? It is not. THE TRUTH IS IN HERE - i.e. The Bible.
Sometimes. maybe many times, Scripture is difficult to grasp. So, we may choose to look further afield for answers.
Among a few other principles I also read my Bible through these two:
- it is self-authenticating, the Holy Spirit speaks to my human spirit for both confirmation and explanation, thus I know it's true.
- the Bible does not need man's support. Men of reason cannot undo men of faith, for it is by faith we are saved. While-ever it is the offering of faith that pleases the Father nothing will change. Men who attempt to cherry-pick the eternal Word are in a parlous state of heresy, for who can bring changes and charges against our good God?
whoever believes in Me, as the Scriptures have said, streams of living water will flow from within him. By this He meant the Holy Spirit... (John 7:38-38a)
The explanation of Biblical truths should first be sought with the head hung low, and the heart sent high.
Please recall - who/what informs us, forms us.
Please note - Christians are both the keepers of revelation and its reliable purveyors.
The Last Word:
God's Word requires no man's support, nor will He ever be held to account.
... Before Me no god was formed, nor will there be one after Me ... Yes, and from ancient days I am He ... (isaiah 43:10c - 12c)
